Team Lead – Residential

Essential Job Functions

  • Supervise the Lead Workers and the Direct Support Professionals in all aspects of their job, assisting when necessary, in the total care of the individuals in assigned community home(s) on their assigned shift. Ensure ongoing, at minimum monthly, supervisions are occurring with their Lead Workers, and that Lead Workers are ensuring ongoing supervision with their supervised staff.
  • Have an ongoing presence in the homes they oversee; Oversees the daily operations of their assigned community home(s); including but not limited to: staffing conflicts, menu planning, grocery shopping, house meetings and resident care and support, where applicable
  • Act as a Leadership Role Model for Lead Workers and Direct Support Professionals at each location they supervise, holding all Staff accountable and in accordance with the Peaceful Living model of belonging, encourages teamwork at every opportunity, resolves issues promptly and accordingly
  • Assists the Assistant Director in preparing for licensing reviews through monthly physical site inspections, ongoing compliance with the Office of Developmental Programs/Department of Health regulations, and documentation to note deficiencies
  • Ensures adequate staffing for the site(s), through assisting the Lead Workers (and acts as scheduler in the absence of a Lead Worker) the use of the master schedule, to ensure budgetary compliance and adequate staffing coverage as indicated by the residents’ supervision plans
  • Collaborates with the Recruiter to ensure that the interviewing and onboarding process is facilitated in a timely manner
  • Supervise and monitor the implementation of Individual Support Plans (ISPs) of the residents, ensuring the completion and accuracy of all required documentation, including but not limited to: program goals, behavior tracking sheets, accountability checklists, incident reports and Medication Administration Records (MARs)
  • Participate in the Interdisciplinary Team Process including, ISP, Incident, Behavior and Medical meetings
  • Responsible for maintaining professional communication with families and external stakeholders including but not limited to supports coordinators, behavior specialists, and other support team members
  • Ensure a safe, sanitary, and family-like environment in the community home by ensuring any physical plant concerns are quickly and correctly reported to the facilities manager, and/ or Residential Director
  • Assist in planning of recreational, vocational, and community inclusion activities, chaperones group sponsored trips/social functions, participating as needed
  • Communicate routinely with their peers to ensure that all relevant information is shared to ensure the health and safety of each individual entrusted to our care as well as the ongoing daily operations of the community homes
  • Adhere to the guidelines set forth by the Incident Management Bulletin and Peaceful Living’s Incident Management (IM) Policy to ensure the timely reporting of incidents, performs “look behinds” after an incident and takes immediate corrective action, when necessary in order to protect the health and safety of our individuals and prevent a reoccurrence
  • Support the individuals in their spiritual life by coordinating their attendance at faith activities of their choice
  • Participate in Supervisor On Call (OC) rotation as assigned to ensure proper management oversight and ensure health and safety on all three shifts (on a 24 hours, 7-day per week basis)
  • Oversee the Medication Administration Process as directed by the Assistant Director within the community home on their assigned shift.
  • Oversee and ensure accurate recordkeeping of the Personal Needs Allowance (PNA) funds for the residents, and petty cash funds for the community home, reviews purchases made and receipts for accuracy, submits receipts and required documentation to the finance department in a timely fashion
  • Responsible for managing the Key Performance Indicators in assigned homes to regulate staff overtime, purchasing, and other expenses related to the operation of the homes

Other Job Functions

  • Ensure that all employees in the community home(s) comply with the policies and procedures of Peaceful Living as well as the requirements set forth by the Department of Human Services and the Department of Health
  • Assist in ensuring that each Lead Worker and Direct Support Professional for their assigned community home maintains compliance with the Training Policy inclusive of all mandatory trainings; demonstrates competence and acquires certification in CPR/FA training as well as DHS Medication Administration Certification, assisting to meet the training needs of the Direct Support Professionals, as needed. Facilitate additional trainings as assigned
  • Work collaboratively with other departments to communicate medical, social, and behavioral needs of individuals served, in a timely fashion. Maintains professional communication and exhibits professional behavior with families, guardians, advocates of the residents and all other stakeholders
  • Assists the Assistant Director and Residential Director in program expansion initiatives that include the opening of new community homes
  • Responsible for other duties as assigned by the Assistant Director and/or Residential Director

Language/Math/Computer Abilities

  • Ability to read and write competently in English

  • Working knowledge of MS Word, Excel, Outlook

Certificates and Licenses

  • Must maintain a valid (state of residence) driver’s license and driving approval from Peaceful Living
  • Must attend and acquire certification in the DPW Medication Administration Course and become a practicum observer within one year of date of hire in role of Assistant Residential Director
  • Must attend and obtain certification in the PA Certified Investigator’s Course within one year of date of hire in role of Assistant Residential Director

Education/Experience
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college or university and one year related experience or Associates Degree from an accredited college or university + 3 years related experience or High School Diploma + 5 years related experience.

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to outdoor weather conditions
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate
  • Moderate exposure to blood borne pathogens
  • If de-escalation techniques fail, physical crisis intervention may be required, in order to address aggressive behaviors that could put the individual or others at risk

The employee must regularly lift and /or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move more than 100 pounds (with assistance). Specific vision abilities required by this job include Close vision, Distance vision, Peripheral vision, Depth perception and Ability to adjust focus. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to walk and sit. The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance; stoop and kneel.
